Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven and Prepare the Pan:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan, or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  1. Prepare the Bread Batter:
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the granulated sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until well combined. Stir in the vanilla extract. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Gently fold in the chopped apples and cinnamon until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  1. Make the Topping:
  • In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar, flour, and cinnamon for the topping.
  • Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Stir in the brown sugar until well combined.
  1. Assemble and Bake:
  • Pour half of the bread batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it out evenly.
  • Sprinkle half of the topping mixture over the batter. Pour the remaining batter over the topping layer, smoothing the top with a spatula. Sprinkle the remaining topping evenly over the batter.
  • Lightly press the topping into the batter with the back of a spoon or your fingertips.
  • Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • If the top of the bread starts to brown too quickly, you can loosely cover it with aluminum foil during the last 15-20 minutes of baking.
  • Once baked, remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Transfer the bread to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.
